This Routine to Ritual newsletter began simply as a way to document my process so that I might better honor it, and has evolved as a place where I can create in conversation with fellow artists, to share possibilities for creative practice, and document ways to nurture creative practices to ground, nurture, and inspire us.
All the while, I’ve been craving more consistent community and connection with fellow artists, to learn and experiment and make messes together—calling back to memories of art school where I cherished the companionship of friends in the printmaking studio, painting with roommates in our dorm room, taking sketchbooks together to the park to lounge on a blanket as we drew.
Introducing Slow Flow Studio
Printmaking taught me that studios do not have to be solo to be contemplative, exploratory, and sustaining. Virtual art dates with friends from all over remind me that an art studio can be a state of mind and not just a physical space. I want to co-create a virtual studio with you where we answer the call of our craft and creativity with open sketchbooks ready to be filled—letting it all feel easy with just the right dose of ritual.
This is your invitation to
embrace the slow,
the meaningful,
the discovery.
Slow Flow Studio Sessions are offered each season as a chance for us to root back into our own creative practice and to give dedicated time to stepping into flow and presence—with no intended expectation or outcome other than showing up with a few of our favorite art supplies, moving our hands, and seeing where that takes us in this welcoming studio of our own shaping.
Who is this for?
Artists at any stage who want to cultivate their creative practice in a slow and sustainable way & connect in community. These sessions are designed to help you enter into a nurturing creative practice and call yourself back to the true art of what you (long to) do.
You are still an artist even if your day job is unrelated, if you only crack the spine of your sketchbook on occasion, if it’s been years but you feel the nudge to make art, if you just have a nudge that that joy you felt creating as a kid could be reawakened. And Slow Flow Studio is here to call you back and reinvigorate more regular practice.
We will show up from the messy middle, amidst the busy beauty of everyday life, in the margins of tending to our many passions, interests, daily to-dos and distractions.
We will hold and create the space of Slow Flow Studio together.
